*Production Shift Manager
Managing the operation of an assigned shift in terms of production, quality, cost, delivery, technical, safety, and human resources.
Managing the operation of an assigned shift in terms of production, quality, cost, delivery, technical, safety, and human resources, whilst respecting the defined goals. Manage all aspects of the shift through collaborative working with the other Shift Managers for delivering, and where possible, exceeding, the key performance indicators within the operation. Act independently at the organisational level, making appropriate decisions to keep to delivery timelines, safety, and progress of the shift/department.
Responsible for:
- 5-10 Direct reports – Production Team Leaders/Supervisors
- Indirect reports – Up to 40
- Managing production shift
- Managing and controlling production shop floor activities
- Maintaining a safe production work environment
- Partake in creating production plans.
- Executing production plans
- Developing employee skills and capabilities
- Maintaining Production KPIs
Principle Responsibilities:
- Production Planning and Scheduling
- Shop floor supervision
- Functional Leadership & Team Management
- Budgetary Management
- Continuous Product and Process Improvement
- Customer Relations and Communications –
- Quality – Responsible for ensuring the strict adherence to established quality standard and the manufacture of products to required quality specification.
- Health and Safety – Have an in depth understanding of the health and safety requirements directly relevant to the production process and physical plant.
- Reporting – Develop and manage appropriate KPIs for upward reporting.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
- BSc. in any science field (preferably chemistry) is desirable.
- Manufacturing experience in the pharmaceutical, fine chemical, or biotech industries with process development exposure.
- Significant people management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience in developing employees' skills
- Significant experience of pilot scale API, fine chemicals synthesis, including scale up and improvement of the chemical processes.
- Demonstrable experience in process improvement methodologies and their implementation.
Other requirements:
- Ability to think strategically whilst attentive to detail. Nimble minded.
- Commercial focussed
- Able to multi-task, managing multiple different projects at a time.
- Infrequent travel to other Astrea locations.
